So many things happened within this week, the earthquake, the meeting, the never ending editing and data gathering, the arrival of my admission letter, the baptizing of Andy and his sister, and helping Joan with her apartment application.
First the ShuChan Earthquake that shook the whole China, and shook the heart of almost every Chinese people in the world. Watching TV news from Taiwan actually became a daily task, taking over the BBC news time slot right before going to bed. I sincerely hope that all the aids and donations would get through to those who are in need, and pray for the recovery of those effected, both physically and mentally. I think this is actually the first time for me to donate my own money for any causes, partly because I did not start making money until I begin doing research. But yeah, things happen in life, we just have to find a way to cope with it and live through it.
This week has been so... busy is not the right word, but anyway, I almost completely forgot that this is the week that I received admission letter from Singapore. I finished my acceptance to the scholarship, the application for dorm and visa, and all I have left to do now is wait and see. I have emailed my professor about the research topic and the content of the qualification exam, and hopefully I will heard back from him soon. It should be fun, going to Singapore, and I have stayed in one place for too long. It will be a nice and welcoming change.
I had two meetings this week, and a big one coming up next Thursday. I can never figure out how the professor could ask me to do all kinds of analysis while wanting me to gather more data. Analyzing the is taking up enough time, and I do hope that the meeting next week will go well. We shall see what happens.
The only fun things I get to do this week is helping Joan with her apartment application. I am glad that I can be helpful in some way, instead of just sit around and don't know how to do anything. I guess the moving out on my own really forced me to be more mature, and calling people on phone for "official business" is no longer something I would try to avoid. I got better at communicating with people, and I know what questions to ask.
Anyway, that's that, glad that the week is over, and hope next week would be better than this, or at least don't be like the past two weeks when we have a disaster per week. Wishing everyone a eventful and safe week up ahead. Ciao.
