It's amazing to see LA for the first time in six years, out side of the airport, that is.
I can't believe that it has been so long since I last was here. There is such a different feel of places over here comparing to the Mid-West. The hills are sandy, dry yellow, and gives the feeling of extreme thrust.
Anyway, I had to drive a total of 4 hours through out the day, going between LAX and San Diego. It would all be smooth and easy if I have had enough caffeine in my system, which I did not. I am glad, though, that we all made it to LAX using the "beggar's ticket" as my dad puts it, since air carriers are reluctant to assign seats to people holding discount tickets unless there is absolutely no one else waiting for the seat.
We went to visit a friend of my dad from way back last night, and they were talking how airliners used to only filled the seats to 75% and it would still be profitable, and the crew-member discount ticket is actually considered as a benefit instead of a hassle. Now days the airlines simply over book everything to cover the cost of canceled flights and bad accountability. From what I can tell, the civil aviation industry in the US is in a serious need of revamp.
With that said, we are all safely in LA, and it feels good to be not in the airport for 5 hours a day anymore.
