I have been looking forward for this for a while, and the day finally came.
These are my best friends, having know each other and worked together for at least five years, and went through the toughest days of our college career together.
We are not just friends, we are comrades. We still look back to those days, and gauge the severity of the current situation to it, knowing that we have been through a lot worse, together.
Anyway, I took a commuter train from Oceanside to LA Union on the 1st of July. The train ride was...well, crowded, and there really is not much to see, as the train run through the poorer neighborhoods.
It was great to see these guys again, it has been a while since we last hang out, and campus never felt the same without them. We were the coolest design team in our class, and our British teammates called us the "super-duper team".
We went to a vegetarian restaurant for dinner. Considering that I usually prefer meat to grass, the meal was surprisingly good and filling, although I do feel that I will never be able to live on a vegetarian diet, even with their food.
What is a college reunion without drinking? We bought two bottles of wines, and shared them over "Uno," and drinking is always a good way of opening up conversations.
Day two, or the second of July, was mostly spent at the LA Zoo. It has been a while since the last time any of us went to a zoo. The day was surprisingly warm, but we had a lot of fun.
We saw this little stone room they built for the tortoise to rest in, complete with door frames and ceiling lamps, and someone came up with the idea that the tortoises are "being serviced in the mechanics shop", which is pretty fitting (don't have pictures, but I'll try to draw it out.) Anyway, the joke stuck, and every time we could not find the animal on display, we would just say that they're being serviced.
Anyway, the weather is great, the temperature was a bit warm but manageable, but the company was great.
I shall update the observatory trip in my next entry.
