So I was chatting with some guy in my research group when I saw the particle disperse curve he drew on his white board. It's like a belt curve shifted more towards the origin. Well, I thought, that looks like something interesting, so I picked up a marker and drew another plot right next to it, with similar curvature and all, and labeled the axis as "Student Enthusiasm" versus "School Weeks".
The curve peaks at labor day weekend, which is the first long weekend we get this school year, and I added another "hump" where Thanksgiving break is supposed to be at. Well, my friend saw that, and decided to trace his enthusiasm curve on the same plot, and his look like a parabola with minimum point at mid-semester, and recover as final date gets closer. Now, another guy in our research group walked in, and exclaimed "I think mine would look more like a step function."
To those who doesn't know, look it up on wikipedia. Either way, his enthusiasm pretty much dropped to zero as soon as school starts, and have a small delta function (again, look it up on wikipedia) at where Thanksgiving break is at.
Anyway, enough nerd talk. The point is...well, we're bored, tired of research, and tired of sitting in front of the computer all day running simulations. I serious need to get a life. We all do.
