So, I'm done with the course project
At least for one of the courses.
I honestly don't understand the reasoning behind they way this school lay out their course's teaching plan, though. I mean, the course project, which is 30% of your grade, for "Virtual Design and Manufacturing" is making a 3D animation clip of a dinosaur. Honestly, what does this have to do with "Design" or "Manufacturing"? Nothing! And what are we learning in classes? How to define a b-spline curve, manually. This has absolutely nothing to do with designing, or application of "virtual" aspect into the design or manufacturing process.
The numerical engineering is even more of a joke. We are supposed to learn about finite element/finite volume method, or application of RK method for root solving, etc. But the course project is about "solving the intersection between cones," which is simply a quadratic equation, which means that there is no numerical integration, differentiation, or anything required to obtain the solution. The answer is simple s=(-b +- sqrt (b^2-4ac))/2a. Yeah, even an elementary school student can do that (or did we learn it in junior high?)
Oh, well. That's that. Anyway, someone remind me to post the stuff I jogged down on my visit to the art museum.
