So I woke up at around 3am last night since my bed was shaking and the wall is squeaking. Apparently there was an earthquake, but it's so mild that I felt asleep soon afterward and did not pay much attention.
I guess I was expecting a more violent movement to wake me up fully, as I spent part of my childhood in Hualin, an earthquake zone. However, it did get me thinking, since the buildings in Taiwan are designed for earthquakes, we were not too concerned about building collapsing in most cases, but how about here? Almost every buildings around here are built with wooden frame and is at least 5 years old, what is there to prevent the building from falling apart?
Anyway, there has been talk about a mega earthquake happening in this area since there has not been an earthquake happening for years, well, at least this one would eased the seismic pressure, or maybe it would trigger further activities...who know?
p.s. Oh, yeah, the earthquake is of magnitude 5.2, but hey, that's not a big one, not for us who've been through a 7.2 darn close to the earthquake center...
